MDA Release: OpenID update, LongTail FLV Player Package and five Sample Projects

This past week for the MDA team has brought an update of the Open ID Package, the LongTail FLV Player Package and five sample projects.

First, let’s see packages in more detail.

The Open ID package (see package in action)

With the new widget added to the Open ID Package it is easy to enable authentication on your website with major Open ID providers as well as Facebook Connect (see Figure 1).

Simply place this widget on your form and enter the Facebook API key for your website in the FacebookKey property (Figure 2) to enable authentication through Facebook Connect, while authentication with Google and Yahoo! does not require any further adjustments.

The LongTail FLV Player package (see package in action)

The LongTail FLV Player Package allows you to play flash video on your website. It includes a widget that provides the required functionality off the shelf—simply put it on the form (Figure 3) and enter a video link in the Source property (Figure 4) to enable this video to be played on your website.

Now let’s get to the sample projects we have released this week.

Morfik Pass-through Queries sample project (see it in action)

Morfik Pass-through Queries is a simple project that focuses on the Pass-through (non-visual) queries in Morfik. It shows examples of Insert, Select and parametric sample pass-through queries, working with the tables from the underlying database. A live demo is available here.

Morfik suggest sample project (see it in action)

Morfik Suggest is an example of implementing Google Suggest in Morfik. Enter a text in the TextEdit control and a list of words from the database table is suggested as you enter your text. A live demo is available here.

Sort and Filter sample project (see it in action)

Sort and Filter shows how you could sort columns in a continuous form and also the ability to filter records based on search characters that are placed for a column. A live demo is available here.

Databound Controls sample project (see it in action)

Databound Controls is an example of creating a Custom control and extending its functionality to be databound in the browser. The custom control is initially created as an empty ListBox and is populated, on user’s request, with a list of items (including an icon) from a table in the server. A live demo is available here.

FLV Player sample project (see it in action)

FLV Player shows how a third party FLV player (in this case JW Player) could be integrated in a Morfik application to show FLV videos in your applications. This FLV player is currently used in Morfik’s eLearning application. A live demo is available here.

All samples projects are free to download from Morfik’s Sample Projects webpage.
