Previewing improvements to Continuous Editable Forms in Morfik 3

Recently a developer on our blog site made the following comment: "I’ve been watching and trialing Morfik for about a year now. I still can’t use it because of one simple thing. You haven’t created a properly functioning, bug free, good user experience continuous editable form."

Well, I am about to share with you something that will completely change that!

In Morfik 3 the implementation of Continuous Editable Forms is dramatically enhanced. In fact it will have features of both Continuous and Single Forms; content will be displayed like Continuous Forms but will have the editing capabilities of Single Forms!  The best way to get a feel for the improvements in performance and usability is to have a look at the following Continuous Editable Forms demo:

DNS and Morfik Deployment Automation Services (DAS)

Personally I feel most people using the internet don’t notice or appreciate the wonderful work of DNS (Domain Name System) servers. There is no reason really for them to think about it; they type an address on the browser and the website appears. Like a phone number, you dial the right number and the right person answers. That is fine until you offer an online service on the internet, you have your own domain name and somehow you need to use a DNS service. Since most Morfik users will be using Morfik DAS, sooner or later it will be essential to know a few things about DNS and how it relates to Morfik DAS.

Previewing Morfik's MenuBar control

In search of the ultimate navigation system for Morfik web applications we have come to the realization that just mimicking desktop-like menus on the web is not going to work. The use of desktop-like menus on the web has largely been criticized for its lack of usability, accessibility and scalability. Despite the criticism, desktop-like menus have been high on the list of most requested features for a long time. However, I feel there are merits to the criticism leveled against them that need addressing in order for a successful adaptation of these menus on the Web.

Morfik iPad Party

After waiting for what felt like an eternity my new iPad was hand-delivered to my home yesterday, three weeks ahead of its scheduled release in Australia. It did not take me long to get up and running.  Loading content through iTunes went smoothly and I was soon playing with the familiar iPhone content on this new device.

Of course, the first thing I wanted to do was check out how Morfik apps ran in the iPad. But more importantly, I wanted to find out for myself whether this new device would live up to the hype and could really change the way we experience the web. Naturally here at Morfik things like that are very important to us. The last time I was this excited was when IE5 was released. IE5 was the first browser that made it possible to think of the web as a software platform. It has been a long time since anything as significant that has happened in the world of browsers. Of course there have been a lot of major improvements over the years but no game changers. So, I was really keen to experience it first-hand.

We are pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of Morfik 2.4. You can download the update from here. In addition to bug-fixes and other improvements, there is one feature that makes this release especially exciting—the introduction of a new documentation system.

Comprehensive and up-to-date documentation was something that Morfik had been lacking for some time.
